May 28th - June 1st
Introduction:
The AccessGrid is an Internet based teleconferencing system capable of multicast audio and video streams. This allows virtually unlimited streams to be broadcast and received by all participants and provides a true conference experience. Sound and audio quality are excellent and desktops and presentations can be shared with all remote sites for viewing or participation. For participants without multicast-enabled networks we also offer a unicast/multicast bridge to the multicast network. VNC server connections will be made available for streaming presentations and computer desktops.
Can I participate via AccessGrid?
If you have access to a high-speed Internet connection, you should be able to participate. You should check to see if your institution has already set up an AccessGrid node site. If your Institution does not provide AccessGrid videoconferencing, you can easily build your own AccessGrid node with a USB camera and a headset with microphone using your own laptop or desktop computer. Check the resource page and FAQ at the UTHSCSA AccessGrid website for more information or call Jeremy Mann at (210) 567-2672 for assistance.
UltraScan Software Workshop:
The UltraScan Workshop will be broadcast live on the AccessGrid Venue Server of the University of Texas Health Science Center. The venue will be served from the "UltraScan" room on the venue server. The adress is:
https://ag1.v19.uthscsa.edu:9000/Venues/default
Participation in this workshop over the AccessGrid is free and open to the public. We will be broadcasting in NTSC video quality.
Please Note: All AccessGrid participants are requested to pre-register (at no cost) and asked to test their connections to our venue server before the meeting.
Participants will be able to ask questions via AccessGrid audio streams and can provide their own video stream to this meeting.
UltraScan Software:
All AccessGrid workshop participants should have a local copy of UltraScan running on their computers before the meeting so they can participate in the hands-on tutorials. Example data will be posted on the venue server before the meeting. A MySQL database with the data will also be made available for the training session. Linux, Windows and Solaris versions of the UltraScan software are available for free download from the UltraScan website at:
